Solicitors

Once you have an offer for a house accepted you will need to do the following things:

1). Get a solicitor

2). Return to your mortgage lender to finalise your mortage.

It is advisable to use a local solicitor who will have a firm knowledge of the area to speed up the process.

Feel free to go to many different solicitors to get quotes for their services. It is standard practice for them and most will give you a quote in a few minutes.

Once you have selected one, they will give you a form to sign and ask for a retainer fee of a few hundred pounds. 

Then they are ready to proceed but it can take 6-8 weeks for the solicitor to complete their searches and formulate contracts
